How Do I Create Custom Fields?

Two types of custom fields can be created, these are:

Sales Quote Custom Fields - used by the Create Sales Quote process as extra information prompted in the fourth step of the wizard (this fourth step only appears if sales quote custom fields have been created).

After creating a sales quote, this type of custom field is also available for editing in the Custom Fields menu option in the Sales Quote Editor.

The Sales Quote Custom Fields are also available in the text block editor to insert in-text content as embedded data items.

Product Custom Fields - can be created for the Product Catalogue; these Product Custom Fields appear when adding or editing products in the product catalogue.

These data items can also be set up to appear in your pricing tables in a sales quote.

Sales Quote Custom Fields

When you create a new sales quote, QuoteCloud will ask you for important information to initially create the sales quote, such as who the sales quote is for, their address, what sales quote template to use, etc.

It is a common requirement to need more information collected than the "standard" system type fields mentioned above. For example, analysis data, such as what industry your customer operates or the type of work.

To create sales quote custom fields, follow the steps below:

Click on the Configuration menu while on the Sales Quote Dashboard, then select the Custom Fields option in the drop-down menu.

You will now see the current custom fields created (if any). To start creating a custom field, tick the check box on the left of a field and type a label.

In the example below, two custom dropdown fields have been created; one to record the type of project, and one to select the industry in which a customer operates. There are five types of Sales Quote Custom Fields, i.e. Text, Dropdown, Integer, Currency and Date.

After saving your custom fields setup, you will now see the Extra Information step when creating a sales quote, as shown below.

Product Custom Fields

You can set up Product Custom Fields in the same way as Sales Quote Custom fields. To do this, you need to click on the Products tab to access this set of fields.

Now, create your Product Custom Fields.

For example, (as shown in the below image), we may want to show the SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) next to each product listed in the pricing table; we may also want to list the Brand of that product which can be selected from the dropdown.
